You can contact me at the email address given above. I'm home now, so my aurora diary has finished and I'm looking forward to seeing the drawings you have done.

For anyone who is unsure about this project, here is a little recap: I hope lots of children will be inspired by my emails to draw images of Antarctica. The drawings don’t need to be very big, but they do need to be dark enough to photocopy and not coloured in.

The best way to keep the drawings for me is to photocopy them and save the photocopies in a folder  ( WITH NAME, SCHOOL, AND ADDRESS ) so I can collect them upon my return. This way the kids can keep their drawings and colour them etc. I’m going to use these drawings as the basis of an exhibition called Kids Antarctic Art which will tour Australia then by sold for charity.

Regards

Alison

For anybody looking for information on Antarctica, the Australian Antarctic Division's site at www.classroomantarctica.aad.gov.au has fabulous stuff. Margo Foster is an ABC journalist who is travelling on the Aurora with me, an also an Antarctic Arts Fellow has a great page called Listening to Antarctica which you get to at www.abc.net.au/rural then follow the prompts through Bush Telegraph. Another great resource is The Literature Base magazine which has a huge Antarctic reading list and good activities in its February 2005 edition.
